WELCOME TO
THE WILD WEST
Join us as we make a difference, one worm at a time
Did you know that we are currently experiencing a worldwide shortage of worms?
For many of us, a worldwide shortage of worms is an afterthought. Worms can’t affect that much, right? This mindset is one we shared once upon a time. It wasn’t until we found ourselves at a sustainability conference that we learned how much worms affected our local agriculture, food, air quality and so much more…
We decided to become part of the solution. We believe that in order to plant good seeds, we have to start by investing in our soil. We’re a sustainable family-owned farm on a mission to turn garbage into food.
We use the power of Red Wiggler Worms and hot compost piles to turn waste into natural gardening products, vegetable starts, and produce. Join us in making a difference by bringing the Wild West to your home and community!
Wild West Worms is working to build a brighter food future starting from the ground up. But we cannot do it without your support. Learn more about our mission and ways that you can get involved.
Ecologists consider worms “keystone species” because of the influence they have on the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil. Arguably without worms in our soils, life could vanish pretty quickly. Research has found that without worms, significant effects on soil fertility, water drainage, and soil erosion would occur. Definitely some interesting facts to consider.
We believe that you can make a difference by starting small. As a community, we understand the importance of having local food sources yet experienced growing concerns with social viability. We realized that we had to do something to be part of the solution. Wild West Worms is more than caring for worms. We cherish the forgotten art of getting your hands dirty for a cause much larger than yourself.
Worms increase soil aeration, infiltration, structure, nutrient cycling, water movement, and plant growth. Worms are one of the major decomposers of organic matter for they get their nutrition from microorganisms that live on organic matter and in soil material. Researchers have found that the most productive pastures for plant growth and sustainability have lots of, you guessed it! Worms!
From the beginning, Wild West Worms has been driven by the interests and involvement of our incredible and engaged community. We imagined the Wild West Worm Farm as a proof of concept for a zero-waste, fully self-sustaining farm for ten families fueled only by sunshine, rainwater, and other people’s garbage. We wanted to prove that we can live in harmony with the earth by creating an environment that provides us with food, shelter, and income while positively impacting our land and environment.
Sustainably sourced agriculture means growing food in ways which sustain the soil, minimise water and fertiliser use, protect biodiversity and enhance farmers’ livelihoods.
Organically grown refers to food grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We believe in the farm-to-table concept and the power that comes from living off products that come directly from the earth.
For every product purchased, you are giving back to communities across the country. All proceeds go to the creation of vocational programs to help those impacted with mental and behavioral health concerns.

How do worms benefit your soil?
Worms are known to be one of the most important organisms in the soil ecosystem, and they play a vital role in maintaining soil health. Here are some of the benefits that worms offer to your soil: 1. Improve soil structure: Worms help to improve soil structure by creating tunnels in the soil, which allows for better water infiltration and aeration. This means that roots can better penetrate the soil and access nutrients they need to grow. 2. Increase soil fertility: Worms help to break down organic matter and turn it into nutrient-rich humus. This humus is then used as food for plants, which helps to increase soil fertility. 3. Reduce soil erosion: Worms help to stabilize the soil by creating channels and burrows that hold the soil together, reducing the risk of soil erosion. 4. Enhance soil microbial activity: Worms help to improve soil microbial activity by breaking down organic matter and releasing nutrients that are then available to other microorganisms in the soil. This leads to a healthier soil ecosystem and better plant growth. At Wild West Worms, we offer a variety of worm products that can help you improve your soil health. From worm castings to worm tea, our products are all natural and will help you grow healthier, more robust plants.
